another great weekend at bernie's... i mean, Mammoth. I did a lot better, even got on some difficult black diamonds this time. The powder was excellent, bright sun, 2 beautiful days, not too many people, the 720 front flip, the hurt wrist, the sunburnt nose, the ride up chair 9 with the 80mph wind gusting snow and ice into my uncovered face. awesome.
sorry, i haven't been in much of a mood to post in here. my online presence is almost nil at this point. i mean, i still surf my favorite websites every morning, but as far as any online communication goes, i'm almost on E. i got sick last month for awhile. had that whole superbowl party in the middle of it. didn't get better until the 2nd week after. been struggling to get back in the gym ever since. speaking of, my knees have been bothering me a bit. i can't do certain leg exercises without experiencing extreme warmness and pain. left knee mostly. so what do i do, but i go to mammoth 2 weekends ago. but i went prepared with knee braces. the first day felt so good with one of those on my left knee, that i bought another and put it on my right. that trip was a blast. we stayed in a house owned by friends of the family, my friend's family that is. them and their extended family invited tiff, rob, and i to go with them. last run on sunday, we got to the top and the wind picked up, giving us white-out conditions. i had a hard time making it down the mountain, even taking a big spill. i fell and landed on my face, head ringing. took a couple minutes for it to clear, but i was ok. the rest of the trip to the bottom seemed to take forever. let's see.... spend some of my tax refund on a new monitor (dell 20" lcd) and a new set of computer speakers (creative 7.1). i just upgraded my phone to a razr, cuz it was FREE from verizon. kick ass. this reads like such a book report. YOU LOVE IT! trying to figure out when to go up and visit a friend in LA. it seems like every other weekend, i have something planned, and the off ones i just want to sit and relax at home. ok, i'm done.

Mon, Feb. 13th, 2006, 07:55 pm brief update
I've been sick and miserable for the past 2 weeks. A goddamned sore throat and cough that just won't go away. Rx tomorrow. Despite that, my new roomies and I hosted a kickass Superbowl party, featuring my 65" big screen HD TV /rawr. Caught up with some friends I hadn't seen in awhile. Drank waaayyy too much, but had a great time of it. Nothing going on that I'm really looking forward to. Friend is moving back home soon. One of my roommate's birthdays is coming up, but that's still a couple weeks away.

Janauary 6-8Went to Vegas with Tiff, Rob, and Anna to meet my bro, Grant, and our friend Doug. They were out there for the Consumer Electronics Show. We had a blast drinking, gambling, partying. We even went to the Adult Entertainment Show. I have pics. Well, I don't have pics, Anna does. Still working on getting those from her. January 9-12Went to New York for work. Yes, the Rockstar headquarters. It was a summit for all of the Rockstar studios across the world. The meetings during the day were kind of boring, but they put us all up at the Soho Grand, paid for everything: travel, meals, and open bar! OMG that was great. January 13-15Went to Vegas (again) with Tiff, Rob, Francois, Janet, Dmitri, Ileana, and Shaina. It was Janet's birthday and she really wanted to go. It was a very last minute trip. Again, had a blast. Shaina and Ileana got way drunk. We walked, ran, stumbled, and fell down the strip. Dmitri got drunk and stayed out all night. Then then Ileana Shaina and I visited stateline on the way home and rode the rollercoaster and the water flume ride. Good times! January 22Went on a bike ride with Shaina and Ed (myspace friend) in El Cajon. Well actually, we meant to go to this Kitchen Creek trail out east of Alpine, but long story. I got fucked up. Flew over my handle bars, landed mostly on my head which was thankfully protected by a helmet, and onto my front. When I sat up I couldn't see because the visor on my helmet was broken and bent down in front of my eyes. There's a sizeable dent on top, and I broke of part of the hard styrofoam lining over my left ear. I bruised my knees, scraped and bruised my shoulder, cute up my chin and nose, and have a long, bloody gash down my right forearm. It was awesome! After the ride, Shaina and I had the big "we like each other" discussion, but she's been busy with school work this week so I don't know where this is going to end up. Coming up...Hosting a Superbowl party over at our place. If you're in town, you're in invited!

Sorry, guys. I've been busy with the holidays, moving into a new place, work, etc. Excuses, excuses, I know. So Happy new year's, everyone.
This weekend I head to Vegas to join my brother who is already there for the Consumer Electronics Show. I think I talked him into going with me to the Adult Entertainment Expo on Saturday. My roommates are going to meet me out there tomorrow. Should be good times for all!
Then next week I'm in New York for work. We'll be staying at the Soho Grand (swanky!). I might have some free time Monday evening, and Thursday during the day, but I'll probably be with my co-workers the whole time.
TTFN!
sorry i haven't updated. been way busy with the new place and hosting parties and such. i'm heading home for christmas. Happy Holidays everyone!

Ok, I'm gonna make this quick because it has been really hard to motivate myself to continue my travel log. Besides, I've probably forgotten a lot of details by now, anyways. But we'll see. So, Tiffany and I arrived in Rome. We were sick of each other (she was sick, quite literally), so we chose to stay in separate hostels. She picked one right at the main train station which offers express service to the airport. I stayed at something across town. It was totally ghetto: Bunk room shared with 7 other people. Shared facilities and dining area. It was great. That afternoon, I went to the Vatican. It was quite opulent. I went up to the top of the Cupola, 577 steps or so, I don't recall the exact figure, but I did count every stair and the sign at the beginning was accurate in that the elevator would've saved me 300-some-odd steps, whatever that number was. Vatican Square: 1 2 3 4. Interior. First step up to the Cupola. Dome. Last step up to the Cupola. Views from the top of the Cupola: 1 2 3. After the Vatican, I went in search of a phone booth and a calling card so that I could call Tiffany and try to arrange to meet for dinner. Little did I know how hard that was going to be. So after stopping off form some gelatto (mmm delicious!), I went to Piazza Navona, which is famous for the shops and cafes nearby as well as the entertainment that can usually be found there, plus it was one of the places that Tiffany wanted to see again. Unfortunately, there was a heavy downpour on the way. But fortunately, I was able to buy an umbrella from one of the many sellers who popped up out of nowhere as soon as the first droplet hit the ground. I think I was supposed to leave a deposit in this fountain, or I never return to Rome. Oops. Eventually, I was able to use a phone and I met Tiffany, as sick as a dog, at a restaurant just around the corner from her hotel. Nice food, nice wine, more gelatto. Nice conversation with the Irish couple seated next to us in the pouring rain. It was a fun experience. Not for Tiffany though as she couldn't keep her food down. She left the next morning for home, too sick to continue our trip. Poor girl. I was alone in Europe. So the next day, I went to the Coliseum and got "suckered" into a tour group, but I have no complains except maybe the price. The tour guide was well-informed and was pretty funny. I learned a lot during the tour, but I've probably forgotten most of it by now. Got an outside shot, a couple 3 inside shots, and a picture of Constantine's Arch. The whole thing was very impressive. I cracked jokes to myself about Gladiator during the whole tour. Then I headed eastward into the ruins of The Forum. The area was just amazing with all of the columns, statues, and remnants of it all. It was very picturesque that day. After all this, I went on a walk to find The Pantheon. On my way I found this. Never found out quite what it was, but it's pretty. Then I finally found the Pantheon. I didn't know what it was at first because I kept seeing signs referencing St. Mary's or something. I'm like, this doesn't look like a cathedral or anything. But I was at the right place. And now, in the interesting of getting this silly thing over with, I'll briefly summarize the rest of my trip back to San Diego: Train back to Zurich to spend the night with Natalie again. Good German sausage at restaurant. Got Natalie drunk on accident. Headed out the next day and stayed with Tiff's mother in New York. We went to this play inspired by Billy Joel music. It was pretty good, but really just dancing and music, no like, acting or speaking or anything. Then I flew home to San Diego. Home sweet home. *sigh* All. Done.
... but things like this just don't help. Right now, Cartoon Network is showing Goonies. WTF. Wed, Nov. 9th, 2005, 10:57 pm LMAO
Jessica Alba is afraid of being typecast as a whore"The scripts I get are always for the whore, or the motorcycle chick in leather, or the horny maid. I get all those screenplays that start, 'Tawnya is in the shower. The water streams down her naked, perky breasts.' Somehow, I don't think this is happening to Natalie Portman." -- Jessica Alba Um, that's because she can act, ya dumb, sexy bitch. Thu, Nov. 3rd, 2005, 04:41 pm
rats. i do this stuff for a living and i only got a 60 :-(
We arrived at Santorini, but this time we did not have a hostel lined up. After talking with a couple of the people at the port, we decided to hop into a shuttle to go to this one hostel in Perissa, supposedly right by the beach. It was not at all what it was cracked up to be. In fact, half of the people who rode the shuttle with us decided to ditch and walked into town and toward the beach. The wife of the owner was not happy, swearing at us in Greek. Not knowing really what to do, we stopped at a Travel agency which gave us the hook-up. They were great. We scheduled a tour of the volcano and hot springs, as well as finding us a place to stay, and we bought our next ferry tickets. The owner of the hostel came and picked us up and everything. Things were going good, heading straight through town and toward the beach. We get real close and then all of a sudden we make a left turn and head away from the beach. It appeared as if we got screwed again. But, the place was really nice had a great view. Right away, we wanted to get some beach ( black sand) time in, so we walked down and actually we were much closer than we realized. After getting cleaned up, we grabbed some dinner and lo and behold, who do we find walking past our restaurant, but Danny, Matt and Chris, the 3 people we met on Ios who also made it to Santorini. From left to right: Me, Tiff, Chris (Seattle), sorry I can't remember her name, Matt (Australia), and Danny (Ohio). That night we grabbed some cheap, but surprisingly good wine, and headed out to this bonfire that one of the bars was having. Total couples-central so we didn't stick around for long. It was nice to get to sleep early. Unfortunately, it was this night that Tiffany started feeling sick. The next day, we took the bus up to Akrotiri, the ruins of the Minoan civilization and the number one reason for Tiffany wanting to come to this island. It was interesting, but I was more along for the ride: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7After that, we took a walk to Red Beach. Quite beautiful. Took a swim, got a burn. It was great. After that we headed up to catch the bus back to Perissa. After waiting for quite awhile, who happened by (again), but Danny and Matt on scooters. They generously gave us a ride back. It was at this point that we decided that we really needed to rent a car because the bus system doesn't quite run often enough and reliably enough. Well, I wanted scooters, but Tiffany wasn't up for it. We wanted to stop and do some wine tasting, but we were too late and too hungry, so we headed up to Ioa (pronounced "wee-a"), a town at the highest point of the island which lines the caldera, overlooking the volcano center. Good sunset, which was slightly hampered by the marine layer. Good thing we had the car, because as we sat having dessert, we could see a storm rolling in, lightning and all. It sprinkled on us during our drive back, but didn't start pouring until about 1 minute before we got back to our room. Tiffany had to run in to grab the clothes we had set out to dry. It was too late. The next day, everything was dry and "back to normal" for our tour of the volcano and hot springs. Danny happened to be going on this same trip. We took a small boat out to the "island" and a cruise ship was in the area that Dan's father happened to be on. So we parked the boat on the "island", and took a hike. The trip offered a unique view of the island, the part that is not barren and has people, plants, and animals living on it. There were several sulfer-stained steam vents. It is also a hot, active place. You could dig a little whole anywhere you wanted, and you could feel the heat and maybe even see a little steam yourself. After the hike, we all hopped of the boat, into the water, and swam to the hot springs, which really weren't all that hot, but definitely warmer than the sea. Of course, what hot springs is complete without its own chapel and a group of goats. And that's it. We stayed in the port after the tour to catch our slow ferry to Crete where we were to stay 1 night and catch an early flight to Rome. Matt happened to be on this same cruise with us. I slept most of the way. Apparently it rained while I was asleep. We checked into a nice hotel in town, had a quick bite to eat, and then Tiffany proceeded to get sick the rest of the way. We called home to have Rob, her boyfriend, look at flights from Rome back to San Diego. I was to spend the rest of the trip traveling alone...
This weekend was a blast! Ok, Friday was kinda lame, but Saturday was the shiznit! Had to get up way early (blarg) after only 2 hours of sleep (double-blarg), to pick up my friend Shaina (yay) and then onto meet her friend Ed to carpool out to Julian for some mountain biking, where it was nice and sunny and warm, much unlike San Diego at the moment. The Middle Peak Loop trail kicked our asses. It was a long uphill ride to the top, across some very rough, and rocky terrain. The ride was technically challenging. And the downhill, wow. I fell a couple of times, but no major damage. Shaina, however, got worked! She was bring up the rear when I hear this crash and she yelled my name. I peddle back up the hill and she's lying face down on the ground, one of her legs is pinned between the handle bars and the main body of her bike. I'm thinking to myself, "God I hope that's not broken." Thankfully it wasn't, but damn was she scraped up. She has marks running from the palm of her left hand, all the way up her arm, a nasty bit on her elbow, and onto her shoulder and back. And her left quad now has a deep muscle bruise causing her to limp a bit. And this is on top of a nasty cut on her right shin from a previous fall. But, despite all of this, she was having a blast "I now have war wounds!" She was so happy! Here's the pictures off of Shaina's camera.I'd say the trip was about 2 hours uphill and maybe 30 minutes downhill. It was tough, but so worth it. Afterwards, we popped into Julian to grab some food and beer. Mmm beer. Then we headed home. Shaina's roommate, Ileana, was there when we go back and it was so fun talking about our adventure. And Shaina's halloween costume had come in the mail, so she just had to try it on. It's a short, pink 50's style poodle skirt, with a long-sleeve top that exposes the midriff. Let me tell you: hot hot hot. I said, "Can I be your date for halloween?" haha. And with a little encouragement, we got her roommate to try on her costume of a French Maid, or an Upstairs Maid, as we decided to call her. "Can I at least hang out with both of you on halloween?" I'm such a perv. lol And then the 3 of us went to this party. It was an international party. I'm pretty sure Shaina and I were the only Americans there. Ileana got drunk, I got buzzed, but Shaina didn't drink at all. She had a headache from smacking her head when she fell. So yeah, Saturday was a great day. Did some fun stuff yesterday, too, but never mind that. I just got off the phone: I HAVE A JOB!!! I'm so excited! I don't want to give away any details until it's official, until after I've crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's. w00t!
Arriving in Ios in the late afternoon, we were greeting by a friendly Australian at the port and were shuttled up to a place called Francesco's with a couple from Seattle. Their names were Chris and Sarah. Of all the places we stayed at on this trip, Francesco's was my favorite. The entire place was run by Australians, which if you've been paying attention, is a common theme on the Greek Isles. The heart of the town lies at the highest points of the island. You can see just about everything: 1 2 3This place had a full-service bar, with the cheapest drinks of the trip, all conveniently billable to your room. Every night, the bar hosted welcome shots at 9:30pm, closed at 12:30am, and then escorted us through the winding streets to their sister bar, The Blue Note. From there of course, it's partying and bar-hopping all night. It was here that we met a few people that we ended up doing a bit of island-hopping with, as well. I'm trying to remember their names... Danny from Ohio, Matt from Australian, Chris from Seattle. We also met people from Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Quebec, and of course, Australia. Our first night on Ios happened to be Tiffany's birthday. This is the 3rd birthday in a row that she has spent it out of the country! Much to her chagrin, I just had to tell everyone. This ended up being a big party night. We played cards, drank a lot of cheap beer at Francesco's bar. Then we headed to the Blue Note. I danced. Yes, shocker, I know. The Blue Note had pretty cheap drinks, too. By this time I was quite "emotionally tired" and so I don't recall every place that we went to, nor what all I drank. I do remember a bar being lit on fire, so I think Tiff had some more Flaming B-52s. I remember near the end of the night, my throat got extremely dry and irritated. I drank as much water as I could, but it did nothing for me. I also remember we went to an Irish-themed pub, and the bartender gave me and my companions a free shot. I couldn't quite figure out why. It was either because we were obviously Irish, or the bar was nearly empty. Definitely a sign that the tourist season was winding down. I also remember at one point Tiffany said to me that Chris was losing his girlfriend, that he needed to pay more attention to her as she was hanging all over the guys. I soon found out from Chris that he and Sarah had broken up the night before. That's a tough situation to be in. To break up on a trip. Makes it kind of hard to get away from each other. Throat and drama aside, it was a great night. Which made for a very unpleasant morning. I couldn't tell for sure if I was hungover by the time I woke up, but I was definitely sick. All that partying! I mean, that damn cat! I blamed Tiffany. If she hadn't picked up that cat... I was tired, run-down, and had a horribly sore throat. I decided to spend the day in bed while Tiffany got to do all the fun stuff. She went to the beach which she later said was the most beautiful beach of our trip. Rats. I guess I'll just have to get back to this island some day. After Tiff returned and got cleaned up, we grabbed some dinner, and sat down to have a chill night. We still went out, of course. I tried to get out of it, but I didn't want to waste anymore time. I was good, though, and called it an early night, relatively speaking. The next day was our travel day. We discovered that the travel agency we bought our ferry tickets from screwed us by giving us the wrong stubs. Now we know: all Greek ferry tickets look exactly the same. If you ever get a ticket that doesn't look like all the others, fix it. We had to buy new tickets and in our haste got screwed again because we wanted a later ferry so we could go to the beach now that I was feeling a bit better. And also to be on the same ferry with our newfound friends who were traveling to the same destination. But alas, it was not meant to be. On to Santorini.
